Overview

San Rafael Café stands as a serene oasis tucked away on Bang Waek Road in Bangkok's Bang Khae district. This café masterfully combines the quiet charm of nature with modern elegance, making it more than just a place to grab coffee—it’s a thoughtful experience. From the moment you arrive, the unique waterfall feature and warm wooden architecture invite you into a space that feels both organic and artful, reminiscent of a treehouse overlooking a gentle stream.

The café’s layout is spacious and thoughtfully designed, providing various seating options that cater to different groups—from solo visitors seeking a calm nook to families or friends who prefer the expansive upstairs area. The upper floor is especially notable for its bird’s nest-like seating, offering an intimate and playful atmosphere perfect for lingering conversations or quiet work sessions. Large windows frame natural light beautifully, complementing the high ceilings and clean, modern lines.

San Rafael Café’s menu showcases an impressive array of coffee beverages and bakery delights that emphasize quality and craftsmanship. Their signature iced Americanos and dirty coffee stand out with bold flavor profiles that perfectly balance robustness and smoothness. Pastries such as the Spinach & Cheese Croissant Sandwich and the Almond Croissant reveal a dedication to freshness and authentic textures, though some items lean towards a more moderate quality compared to top-tier patisseries. Cakes like the Red Velvet and seasonal Rum Fruit Cake offer sweet indulgence without overwhelming richness.

Particularly notable is the café’s approach to coffee culture—it not only serves drinks but also offers coffee beans for home brewing, reflecting a commitment to customer experience beyond the café walls. The ambiance blends calm and lively, though the music volume may occasionally rise, reflecting its vibrant yet relaxed social environment. Clean and peaceful restrooms add to the overall comfort, enhancing the sense of care woven into every detail.

San Rafael Café shines as a destination for those who appreciate aesthetic spaces and quality coffee craftsmanship in one package. It’s ideal for social gatherings, casual work sessions, or simply a quiet moment with well-prepared pastries and artisanal coffee. Convenient parking and the café’s striking photogenic spots make it a popular weekend retreat for both locals and visitors seeking a stylish, refreshing pause in Bangkok’s urban rhythm.

San Rafael is a fantastic cafe! They have a great selection of delicious pastries, and the coffee is excellent. The exterior of the cafe features a unique waterfall and beautiful wooden decor, making it stand out. Inside, it feels like a treehouse with a bird's nest-like seating area upstairs – very creative! The cafe is stunning with lots of photogenic spots. Plus, the parking lot is huge and very convenient. It's the perfect place for a weekend visit to enjoy desserts, coffee, and get some great photos for social media."

It was far from my hotel, but it’s worth it to visit!!! I stayed at W hotel riverfront that day. I took a taxi. It was really a sunny day. But when I entered the coffee shop, the cafe was really cold enough. The cafe has many options to sit. Sit at the second floor was really recommended if you bring a family or friends more than 2 person. Their dirty coffee was really good! Many aesthetics spot to take a pict. Their toilet very calming & clean! I bought their coffee beans, it definitely worth to try at your home!

Magnificent space, with a wooden avatar-esque feel, with the tall structures and surrounding water feature. Unique and Instagrammable. Marked one star down for minimum credit card spend of 500 baht, which is a lot of drinks and pastries for the solo diner!

Chocolate smoothie: nice light flavor, not that rich. Good texture. I liked that there were chocolate shavings at the top but they don't use amazing quality chocolate; it sits about in the middle of quality- not bad but nothing to rave about either. Not too sweet either. Chocolate and nut croissant: the croissant wasn't super fresh but it was somewhat slightly crispy. Not very flaky. Not too sweet. Little chunks of nuts here and there. The chocolate coating felt a little dense and was medium quality as well. I personally would not order this again. Ranks about the middle of croissants I've had before. Music a bit too loud. There are tasters for some foods. Very nice spacious seating, high windows and ceiling; love the atmosphere. There are tasters of some products which is nice. This would be a very good place to come with a laptop and do some work and have some food (that's what many did), or have a little photoshoot.

Beautiful café with a unique design! The atmosphere is really nice and relaxing. I tried the breakfast and some of their croissant – absolutely delicious and fresh. Especially the caramelized croissant loaf with macadamia nuts – buttery, crispy, and full of flavor. The place is spacious, with a great view and modern vibes. The architecture is impressive and gives a truly unique experience. Highly recommended if you're in Bangkok and looking for a stylish café to enjoy your meal or coffee.

The dirty coffee is good. The setup of the space is nice and unique, however, it feels like the support of the pillars of the curved seats on the second floor is not sturdy. It’s like there’s an earthquake upstairs when we tried to dine there. We felt quite dizzy.

So many cute desserts to choose from. They taste mediocre and in my opinion they are overpriced. Didn’t try their drinks. However, if you love taking photos, this is the place. It has cool designs, natural light, and all the desserts look photogenic.
